Xu Zhiwei,chief physician,MD,doctoralsupervisor, recipient of theState CouncilSpecial Allowances. He is also the head of the Key Research Laboratory for Lingnan Traditional Chinese Medicine Academic Inheritance of the State Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine. Dr. Xu was selected by the state to study abroad at Kobe University in Japan and the University of Oxford in the United Kingdom. He has presided over various researchand teachingprojects, including the "Mechanism and Pattern of Treating Irritable Bowel Syndrome from the Perspective of Liver Regulation of Drainage and Storage of Blood" under the National Key Basic ResearchandDevelopment Program” (973 Program), “Research on the Inheritance and Innovation of the Theory of Five Viscera in Traditional Chinese Medicine”, and many projects of the National Natural Science Foundation of China. Dr. Xu has receivednational/provincialScienceandTechnologyProgressAwardsand teaching achievementsseveral times.He is the chief editor and deputy chief editor of several monographs and textbooks.Apart from being a dedicated researcher, he has contributed to the academic community by serving as a member of theacademic department of5th and6th Science and Technology Committee of the Ministry of Education, an expert reviewer for the National Natural Science Foundation of China, an expert in the strategic planning of “Healthy China 2020” and the Deputy Chairman of the WorldFederationof Chinese MedicineSocietiesSub-Health Branch. In clinical practice, Dr. Xu focuses on the integrated treatment of body and mind. He excels indiagnosisand treatment ofinternalcommon diseases and difficult miscellaneous diseases, including cardiovascular diseases, coronary heart disease, gastrointestinal disorders, insomnia, cough, diabetes, pain syndromes, and geriatric diseases, and theprevention and treatmentof diseasestailored to individual constitutions and sub-health states.
