Wang Hongbin, PhD in Science, is aSecond GradeProfessor and Doctoral Supervisor at Guangzhou University of Chinese Medicine, where he also serves as Vice President. He earned his Bachelor's and Ph.D. degrees in Science from Sun Yat-sen University in 1999 and 2005, respectively. From 2005 to 2019, he worked as a faculty member at Sun Yat-sen University, where he was promoted to Professor in 2012 and then served as the Director of the Teacher Development Center from 2016 to 2019. Since November 2019, he has been working at Guangzhou University of Chinese Medicine, leading the disciplines of Traditional Chinese Pharmacology and Pharmacy. In August 2020, he was appointed Vice President of the university. Wang’s systematic research focuses on plant physiology and the study of Chinese materia medica resources, with correspondence-authored papers published in prestigious international journals such asCell Host & Microbe,PNAS,Plant Cell,Nature Communications,Molecular Plant, andCell Reports. His papers have received widespread attention, being selected as ESI Hot Papers and Highly Cited Papers, recommended by F1000, and featured as journal cover articles, spotlight papers, and papers of the year. His workisfrequently highlighted in the "Fund News" by the National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC).Wang has been invited to serve as a member of the 5th "National GMO Bio-safety Committee", Vice Chairman of the 5th "Guangdong Association of Young Scientists" and an expert in the disciplinary review group of the NSFC. As a key member in a national-level teaching team, Wang has led a nationalhigh-quality resource sharing course. His accolades include the First Prize in the Sun Yat-sen University Young Teacher Teaching Competition (2008), the First Prize in the Guangdong Province Teaching Achievement Award (2017, as the first awardee), and a nomination for the Baosteel Outstanding Teacher Award (2017).
