A “Guangdong Provincial DistinguishedTCM Practitioner”, Chen is also a Visiting Professor at the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology (RMIT University) in Australia. Formerly thevice President of the China Association of Chinese Medicine andvice President of the Chinese Hospital Association, he currently serves as the Director of theStateKey Laboratory of DampnessSyndrome of Chinese Medicine(jointly established by the province and the ministry), Director of Guangdong Provincial Institute of TCM Dermatology, Member of the Teaching Steering Committee forIntegrated Chinese and WesternMedicine in Higher Education under the Ministry of Education, and President of the Dermatology Professional Committee of the World Federation of Chinese Medicine Societies. With 38 years of experience in medical practice, education and research in dermatology and venereology, Chen specializes in the clinical and basic research of TCM prevention and treatment of atopic dermatitis. He has developed thePeitu Qingxin(i.e. “Cultivating the Spleen Earth and Clearing the Heart Fire”) Approach, a comprehensive system involving therapeutic principle, method, formula, and medication for treating atopic dermatitis, which has been incorporated into the core content of6national TCM higher education textbooks. ThePeitu QingxinFormula has obtained a national invention patent, clinical trial approval for new Chinese medicine, and registration for medical institution preparations. He has led/participated in 8 national projects and 27 ministerial/provincial and bureau-level projects, headed the publication of 4 standards/guidelines, edited 6 higher education textbooks, authored 18 monographs, and published over 180 academic papers. He has been granted 3 national invention patents, 7 software copyrights, and has received 2 national second-class awards, along with 2 first-class awards, 7 second-class awards, and 5 third-class awards at the provincial and ministerial level.
