On June 26, the Volunteer Nursing Service Squad of GZUCM School of Nursing, a subdivision of the Chinese Nightingale Nursing Service Volunteer Team(CNNSVT), was established, marking a new milestone for the School of Nursing in its journey into the field of volunteer service.
Heads including Zhang Liyan, winner of the 43rd Florence Nightingale Award, and Chairman of CNNSVT, Cheng Shouzhen, Vice Chairman of CNNSVT, Du Liqun, Vice Chairman of CNNSVT, Wu Huiping, Deputy Secretary General of CNNSVT, Guo Hong, Member of the Standing Committee of the CPC GZUCM Committee, and Vice President of GZUCM, Li Lihui, Grade 2 researcher of Guangdong Provincial Health Commission, Jiang Hua, Vice President of Guangzhou Red Cross, attended the founding ceremony. Participants also included about 200 representatives from various medical units in Guangdong Province and volunteer representatives from GZUCM.
The grand meeting opened solemnly with the National Anthem, and the participants together watched the promotional video of CNNSVT. Cheng Shouzhen announced that the "Volunteer Nursing Service Squad of GZUCM School of Nursing, Chinese Nightingale Nursing Service Volunteer Team" officially becomes the 1052nd sub-unit.
Guo Hong stated in his speech that the establishment of the Volunteer Nursing Service Squad of GZUCM School of Nursing is not only an honor, but also a responsibility for the university. He expressed hope that all volunteers would keep in mind the spirit of Florence Nightingale, practice their nursing oath, actively engage in volunteer service, hone their skills, serve as role models, and spread the volunteer culture. By applying their professional knowledge, they should serve the public, protect health, and contribute to the Healthy China strategy.
Zhang Liyan pointed out that as a volunteer team certified by the Red Cross Society of China, CNNSVT has established over 1,000 service sub-units nationwide, uniting more than 510,000 like-minded volunteers. She expressed deep expectations for the newly established Volunteer Nursing Service Squad of GZUCM School of Nursing, and encouraged the squad members to inherit and carry forward the spirit of Florence Nightingale, ensuring that the Red Cross's core values of "humanity, fraternity, and dedication" permeate the entire service process. She urged them to be bold in innovating service strategies, leveraging the unique advantages of traditional Chinese medicine nursing, so as to contribute endless momentum to promoting social harmony and achieving the grand goal of Healthy China.
With the theme of "Little Nurses Making a Big Difference", Du Liqun, the recipient of the 45th Florence Nightingale Medal, shared her stories of working in the AIDS ward in hospital, encouraging the squad to strive for excellence, give back to society through concrete actions, and contribute wisdom and strength to the development and growth of China's volunteer service.
