    The second phase of “Project of Guangdong-Macao Joint Training of Backbone Nurses” officially starts

    The second phase of “Guangdong-Macao Joint Training of Backbone Nurses” project officially kicked off with the opening ceremony of the “Older Adult Care Advanced Course” on January 12. Co-organized by Guangzhou University of Chinese Medicine and Kiang Wu Nursing College of Macau (KWNC), the event took place at GZUCM’s Second Affiliated Hospital (Guangdong Provincial Hospital of Chinese Medicine). Ren Tiejian, Deputy Director from the Guangdong Liaison Department, Liaison Office of the Central People’s Government in Macau, Yin Yiqiao, President of Kiang Wu Nursing College, Guo Hong, Vice President of GZUCM, and Tan Libin, Deputy Party Secretary from GZUCM’s Second Affiliated Hospital(Guangdong Provincial Hospital of Chinese Medicine), along with teacher and student representatives from the three affiliated hospitals attended the ceremony.

    Yin Yiqiao, President of KWNC believes that the joint training program serves as an excellent platform for in-depth exchanges between personnel from Guangdong and Macau. The college received nursing program accreditation from the Education Quality Evaluation Center of Ministry of Education in 2023 and was honored with the Order of Merit in Benevolence by the government of Macau Special Administrative Region. Yin outlined plans to align with national development strategies, advancing courses into various fields and higher levels. Guo Hong, the Vice President of GZUCM emphasized that as a university with a century-old legacy, GZUCM plays a pivotal role in the construction plan for traditional Chinese medicine in the Greater Bay Area. The project, which involves nursing professionals from the university’s three affiliated hospitals, holds significant importance for enhancing the development of the university’s health talent pool and deepening cooperation in the fields of traditional Chinese medicine, elderly care services, etc. He expressed hope that nursing professionals from Guangdong and Macau would seize this opportunity to enhance communication, collectively injecting new vitality into the development of traditional Chinese nursing, contributing to the construction of “Healthy China” project, achieving new breakthroughsandforgingnew pathways with fresh dynamism.

    GZUCM has long shouldered the responsibility of nurturing young talents in traditional Chinese medicine in Hong Kong and Macau, while also spearheading initiatives to facilitate exchange and collaboration in the field. The “Guangdong-Macao Joint Training of Backbone Nurses” project, organized in collaboration with Kiang Wu Nursing College of Macau, stands as a pivotal initiative dedicated to the comprehensive implementation of national strategic visions like “Healthy China 2030” and the “Outline Development Plan for the Guangdong- Hong Kong -Macao Greater Bay Area”, as well as the “14th Five-Year Plan” for national health. GZUCM enjoys a longstanding and robust partnership with KWNC, collaborating on multiple fronts including teaching, research, and talent development. Together, we’ve forged several professional alliances such as the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Traditional Chinese Medicine and Integrative Medicine Nursing Alliance, along with the Geriatric Nursing Alliance, and jointly coordinated a range of high-level academic exchange activities, playing an active role in fostering a healthy Greater Bay Area and advancing a top-notch healthcare service system.
