On the afternoon of January 24th, Guangzhou University of Chinese Medicine (GZUCM) held the work promotion meeting for the “Double Hundred Action” and the winter social practice launch ceremony for the “Hundred Counties, Thousand Towns, Ten Thousand Villages High-Quality Development Project” College Student Youth Task Group in Shuitou Town, Fogang County, Qingyuan City. Since 2023, Guangdong has vigorously launched the “Top Project”, and GZUCM has taken further actions on the “Hundred Universities Cooperating with Hundred Counties Project”, also known as the “Double Hundred Action”, actively collaborating with Fogang County, Qingyuan City. Combining efforts with rural revitalization and assistance, the university has identified collaboration points, emphasizing political standards and professional skills to establish service teams in the county, achieving significant results. In response to the call of the Provincial League Committee, the university has upgraded the “Bringing Culture/Science and Technology/Hygienic Health to the Countryside” social practice activities, and fully implemented the action of the Guangdong “Hundred Counties, Thousand Towns, Ten Thousand Villages High-Quality Development Project” College Student Youth Task Group. It has paired 29 key teams, organized 136 practice teams to go to counties and towns across Guangdong, and focused on solving challenges for high-quality development at the grassroots level, to promote the “Hundred Counties, Thousand Towns, Ten Thousand Villages High-Quality Development Project” with youthful energy of students from GZUCM.

Qiu Yahong, Deputy Secretary of the CPC GZUCM Committee, conferred flags on the key project teams of the “Hundred Counties, Thousand Towns, Ten Thousand Villages High-Quality Development Project” College Student Youth Task Group. The communist youth league committees of subordinate colleges of GZUCM and their counterparts of towns in Fogang County signed cooperation agreements on site. During the winter break, students from GZUCM will participate in social practice in towns and counties including Fogang, focusing on Lingnan characteristic agriculture, intangible cultural heritage inheritance, rural planning, and rural cultural tourism. Through these efforts, they will inject youthful energy into rural revitalization and bolster Guangdong’s leading role in driving forward Chinese modernization.

Zhai Xuemei, Deputy Secretary of the Qingyuan Municipal Party Committee, said that Qingyuan City is implementing the “Ten Major Action Plans”, promoting Guangzhou-Qingyuan integration with high quality, making every effort to create a main battlefield and preferred destination for the orderly transfer of industries from the Pearl River Delta, and vigorously carrying out the “Hundred Counties, Thousand Towns, Ten Thousand Villages High-Quality Development Project”. The city is advancing the ecological construction of green and beautiful Qingyuan with high standards, and providing new opportunities for the youth. She encouraged young people to seize the opportunities and make the most of their talents in the vast rural areas where there is much to do, so as to make new and greater contributions to Qingyuan and to Guangdong’s “Hundred Counties, Thousand Towns, Ten Thousand Villages High-Quality Development Project”. Fan Chun, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Committee of Guangdong Youth League, said the event is an effective measure to fully implement the “Double Hundred Action” and to advance the “Youth Task Group Action”. Fan commended GZUCM for its active action of the Guangdong “Hundred Counties, Thousand Towns, Ten Thousand Villages High-Quality Development Project” College Student Youth Task Group. As the “Excellent Organizational Unit”, the university mobilized over 2500 teachers and students to address grassroots issues in counties and rural areas, and forged various signature projects like “Amomi FructusPromoter” and “Southern Chinese Materia Medica Drifting to Villages”, demonstrating the youthfulness of GZUCM students. He encouraged students to make good use of the opportunities and the platform, view counties and towns as fertile ground for innovation and entrepreneurship, contribute their practical achievements to the well-being of the people, and showcase the splendor of youth in Guangdong’s journey of high-quality development.
During this event, leaders of Fogang County, the GZUCM “Double Hundred Action” Service Team in Fogang and the “Hundred Counties, Thousand Towns, Ten Thousand Villages High-Quality Development Project” College Student Youth Task Group engaged in in-depth discussions on the high-quality development of Fogang. They proposed ideas and suggestions on how to further serve the local economic and social development of Fogang. In Fogang, these two major initiatives formed a strong synergy, becoming a significant measure for the comprehensive implementation of the provincial committee’s “1310” specific deployment by the university. The “Hundred Counties, Thousand Towns, Ten Thousand Villages High-Quality Development Project” Task Group, under the leadership of the GZUCM Party Committee, will collaborate closely with the GZUCM “Double Hundred Action” Service Team in Fogang, sharing research results and complementary work resources. They will refer to the “Double Hundred Action” project promotion checklist, deeply explore villages and towns, identify optimal methods for the effective engagement of young college students, and collectively address the challenges and difficulties hindering local high-quality development.
It was noted that the provincial excellent team “Seeking Phoenix with Flowers” Hong Kong and Macao Practice Team set up in Shuitou Town during the summer vacation where they conducted over a thousand free medical consultations and visited more than 50 households. Lin Dingyun, the team leader, expressed hopes that with the establishment of the work station and the guidance of the “Double Hundred Action”, they can undertake more tangible and beneficial initiatives to improve both Shuitou Town and Fogang County.
