On January 12, the Guangdong Association of Academic Degrees and Graduate Education held its 2023 Annual Conference in Maoming. More than 200 representatives from China Academic Degrees and Graduate Education Development Center, Department of Education of Guangdong Province,over40graduate education institutions, research institutes, and hospitals within the province participated in the conference. Yan Laijun, the dean, Xu Daliang, the vice dean of the Graduate School, along with the heads of Student Enrollment Office, Ideological and Political Education Office, and Student Development and Academic Degree Office, attended the conference. At the conference, Li Hengjin, Director of China Academic Degrees and Graduate Education Development Center, delivered a special report on the quality monitoring of graduate thesis. Wu Baoyu, Director ofScientificResearch Department, Director of Graduate Education Department and also Director of Academic Degrees Office of the Department of Education of Guangdong Province, interpreted the policies related to the new round of declaration of degree authorization units. Zhang Qinghua, Party Secretary and President of Guangdong University of Petrochemical Technology,delivered a speechon behalf of the organizers. The guest speaker Professor Wang Zhanjun, former Deputy Director of China Academic Degrees and Graduate Education Development Center and also Director of the Graduate Education Research Center at Beijing Institute of Technology, made a special report on “Discussion on Issues Concerning the Construction of a Strong Nation, a Strong Province, and a Strong University in Graduate Education”.
Yan Laijun, Dean of the Graduate School, delivered a speech at the Dean’s Forum.
During the conference, Yan Laijun, who serves as both Vice Chairman of the Guangdong Association of Academic Degrees and Graduate Education, and the Dean of the Graduate School of GZUCM, was invited to join the Dean’s Forum. He shared experiences and carried out discussions with expert representatives from peer universities on topics such as construction and development of degree units, classification and development of academic degrees and professional degrees, and reflection on constructing a “Double First-Class” university from the perspective of building a powerful nation through strengthening education.
Xu Daliang, Vice Dean of the Graduate School, received an award.
The conference also commended those who won the Outstanding Teaching Achievement Award for 2023 of the Guangdong Association of Academic Degrees and Graduate Education. Among them, Xu Daliang, Vice Dean of the Graduate School, received “First Prize in Outstanding Teaching Achievement Award” for the project titled “Exploration and Practice of the Educational System for Students of Professional Degrees of Traditional Chinese Medicine Based on the Concept of “ThreeDimensionEducation” in which he served as the principal investigator.
