On May 26, the National TCM Master, Zhou Dai Han, made a wonderful exposition on the self-improvement and high-quality development of traditional Chinese medicine at the 2024 Annual Continuous Professional Development Lecture Series. The conference is part of the centennial celebration activities of Guangzhou University of Chinese Medicine, co-hosted by Guangzhou University of Chinese Medicine and the Macao Chinese Medicine Doctors Association at the Macao Science Center Conference Hall. The Vice President of the university, Pan Huafeng, and the President of the Macao Chinese Medicine Doctors Association, Zhou Ximing, delivered speeches at the opening ceremony. Legislators of the Macau Legislative Assembly, relevant officials from the Health Bureau and the Drug Administration of the Macau SAR Government, as well as representatives of the Liaison Office of the Central People's Government in the Macao SAR attended the conference. Experts in traditional Chinese medicine from both inside and outside China, including National TCM Master Zhou Daihan, Sun Jian, Deputy Dean of the Clinical Medical College of Acupuncture, Moxibustion and Rehabilitation, Liu Min, Director of the Endocrinology Department of the First Affiliated Hospital, and Li Yongjin, Deputy Dean of the Orthopedics and Traumatology Hospital of the Second Affiliated Hospital, gave theme-based lectures at the conference.
In her speech, Pan Huafeng stated that Guangzhou University of Chinese Medicine originated from the Guangdong Specialized College of Chinese Medicine which was established in 1924. Since its establishment, the development of the university has been strongly supported by benevolent and righteous people in the field of traditional Chinese medicine in Guangdong, Hong Kong, and Macao. From nothing to something, from small size to large size, and from weakness to strength, the university has successively become one of the first batch of national "Double First-Class" construction universities, a key construction university of high-level universities in Guangdong, and a university jointly built by the People's Government of Guangdong Province, the Ministry of Education, and the National Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine. It has actively participated in the construction of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and has become a bridge and platform for mutual communication and joint growth among the traditional Chinese medicine circles of the three places in Guangdong, Hong Kong, and Macao. She emphasized that Macao has a long history of traditional Chinese medicine development, and after its return, it has been on the fast track. She hopes that through the holding of this conference, it can further strengthen the academic exchange and cooperation between the university and the traditional Chinese medicine industry in Macao, jointly promote the modernization and internationalization of traditional Chinese medicine, build the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area as a highland of traditional Chinese medicine, and revitalize the development of the traditional Chinese medicine industry.
Zhou Ximing, on behalf of the Macao Chinese Medicine Doctors Association, congratulated the university on its upcoming centennial celebration. He introduced the association's commitment to promoting traditional Chinese medicine culture and carrying out traditional Chinese medicine into campuses to enhance young people's sense of identity and participation in traditional Chinese medicine. He hopes to further deepen cooperation with the university to jointly promote the popularization and development of traditional Chinese medicine in Macao and make a greater contribution to the health and well-being of the people of Macao.
Professor Zhou Dai Han, a national TCM master, gave a lecture titled "Self-improvement and High-quality Development of Traditional Chinese Medicine in the New Era", and made an in-depth explanation from three aspects: traditional Chinese medicine is a complex life science with dual attributes of humanities and medicine, the self-confidence and self-improvement of traditional Chinese medicine in inheritance, and the high-quality development of traditional Chinese medicine and collaborative innovation between traditional Chinese and Western medicine.
Liu Min gave a lecture titled "Clinical Thoughts and Practice of Classical Prescriptions ", Sun Jian introduced the new progress of floating needle medicine, and Li Yongjin introduced the clinical practice of the supine position traction with pulling and extension technique for treating cervical spondylotic radiculopathy.
Commemorative badges were awarded to the lecture guests.
During the meeting, the "Guangzhou University of Chinese Medicine Macao Alumni Exchange Association" was also established.
More than 240 people, including representatives from the World Health Organization's Traditional Medicine Cooperation Center (Macao), universities, hospitals, traditional Chinese medicine enterprises and groups in Guangdong, Hong Kong, and Macao, and people in the traditional Chinese medicine industry, participated in the exchange activities.
