Guangzhou University of Chinese Medicine Signs Psychological Co-construction Cooperation Agreement with Guangdong Provincial Guangzhou Prison

On May 23, the "Guangzhou University of Chinese Medicine and Guangdong Provincial Guangzhou Prison Psychological Co-construction Cooperation Signing Ceremony --- First Psychological Health Special Education Activity" was held at Guangdong Provincial Guangzhou Prison. The event was attended by Chen Chuanyong, Deputy Director of the Education and Reform Department of the Guangdong Provincial Prison Administration Bureau; Guan Xinjiang, Party Secretary and Warden of Guangdong Provincial Guangzhou Prison; Zhong Xiaowen and Liu Cuisong, Deputy Wardens and Members of the Prison Party Committee; Guo Hong, Member of the Party Committee and Vice President of the University; Chen Hanshuang, Deputy Director of the Mobile Museum of Guangdong Museum (Guangzhou Lu Xun Memorial Hall); and faculty and students from relevant departments and the Department of Applied Psychology at the School of Public Health and Management.

Speech by Vice President Guo Hong

Guo Hong expressed gratitude to Guangdong Provincial Guangzhou Prison for their trust and invitation, and introduced the history, educational characteristics, and vision of Guangzhou University of Chinese Medicine. He emphasized the critical importance of psychological health for inmates' rehabilitation and reintegration into society. Guangzhou University of Chinese Medicine will leverage its unique advantages in traditional Chinese medicine culture and modern psychological correction techniques to provide professional and precise psychological assistance and correctional interventions for inmates. Through activities such as the dissemination of traditional Chinese medicine culture, psychological health education and training, the application of traditional Chinese psychological adjustment therapies, and personalized psychological counseling and treatment, the university aims to help inmates develop positive attitudes and behavioral patterns, promoting their psychological health. Guo Hong noted that the university and Guangdong Provincial Guangzhou Prison have a solid foundation for cooperation, and this psychological co-construction initiative will enrich and advance the theoretical system and clinical application of traditional Chinese psychology. He hopes that this collaboration will serve as a reference model for correctional education across the province and the nation, paving new paths for the training of applied psychology talents and the psychological correction of inmates, thereby contributing to the construction of a harmonious society and social stability.

Speech by Warden Guan Xinjiang

Guan Xinjiang thanked Guangzhou University of Chinese Medicine for its strong support of prison work and expressed high expectations for the deepening of strategic cooperation between the two parties. He believes that the cooperation has broad prospects and will effectively utilize the university's high-quality clinical teaching resources and disciplinary advantages to enhance the psychological health education of inmates, guiding them to adopt proactive correctional mindsets. This is a powerful measure to comprehensively promote the psychological growth of inmates and an important approach to continuously improving the quality of educational reform. He is confident that through joint efforts, the cooperation projects can be deeply implemented, creating a comprehensive platform for exchange and innovation, and injecting new vitality into prison education and reform work.

At the meeting, Guan Xinjiang and Ma Lijun, Dean of the School of Public Health and Management, signed the psychological co-construction cooperation agreement on behalf of their respective parties. Both sides expressed their commitment to taking this cooperation as an opportunity to continue deepening efforts in student internships and social services, while continuously providing psychological support for the education and reform of prison inmates.

Special Psychological Health Education Activities

On the day of the event, expert teams provided comprehensive physical and mental support for inmates. Yang Zhonghua, Deputy Dean of the Acupuncture Rehabilitation Clinical Medical College, personally attended to address the physical ailments of inmates. Zhang Qiuzhen, Deputy Director of the Guangdong Museum of Traditional Chinese Medicine, disseminated traditional Chinese medicine culture. Experts and graduate students from the Department of Applied Psychology at the School of Public Health and Management conducted special lectures, group counseling, individual consultations, and traditional Chinese psychological adjustments as part of the psychological health education.

Signing the psychological co-construction cooperation agreement with Guangzhou Prison is a significant measure for the university to enhance the quality of talent cultivation through a practice-oriented approach. It also serves as an important avenue for strengthening practical teaching in the "first-class" applied psychology program, continually promoting the high-quality development of talent training.
