President Wang Wei and His Delegation Visit Guangzhou Wanglaoji Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. for University-Enterprise Cooperation Exchange and Teaching Base Unveiling Ceremony

On June 12th, President Wang Wei led a delegation to Guangzhou Wanglaoji Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. to conduct an enterprise outreach mission, fostering university -enterprise collaboration, and officially inaugurating a teaching base. Vice President Liu Zhongqiu, Chairman and CEO Fang Guanghong of Wanglaoji Pharmaceutical, Chief Engineer Huang Xiaodan, as well as over 30 mid-level managers and alumni representatives from the company, participated in the event.

During the visit, President Wang Wei and his delegation, accompanied by alumni, embarked on a comprehensive tour of the beverage and pharmaceutical manufacturing facilities of Guangzhou Wangla oji Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. This tour provided an insightful glimpse into the company's innovative pharmaceutical technologies, robust quality management practices, and strategic market positioning. Subsequently, the group engaged in detailed and thorough discussions aimed at reinforcing the collaboration between the university and the enterprise.

Wang Wei remarked that the university's roots can be traced back to 1924, when the Guangdong Special School of Traditional Chinese Medicine was jointly established through the concerted efforts of the TCM communities in Guangdong and Hong Kong. Over the past century, its educational endeavors have been consistently pursued without interruption. Presently, the institution stands as a prestigious "Double First-Class" university nationally, ranking prominently in teaching, research, and clinical practice among its peers. Its First, Second, and Third Directly Affiliated Hospitals boast formidable strengths. Furthermore, it houses esteemed national-level research platforms such as the "National Key Laboratory of Traditional Chinese Medicine Syndromes," the "National Key Laboratory of Dampness Syndrome in Traditional Chinese Medicine Co-constructed by the Ministry of Education and Provincial Government," and the "National Medical Research and Industry-Education Integration Innovation Platform." As a time-honored enterprise with a rich history, Wanglaoji Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. shares vast potential for collaboration with the university in domains encompassing drug research and development, clinical application, and talent cultivation. Mr. Fang Guanghong, Chairman and CEO of Guangzhou Wanglaoji Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd., provided a comprehensive overview of the company's developmental trajectory, unique product offerings, and visionary future plans. He underscored that as an esteemed 196-year-old Chinese time-honored brand, Wanglaoji Pharmaceutical has steadfastly adhered to technological innovation and advancement as the dual engines driving its strategic growth. Mr. Fang extended his heartfelt appreciation to GZUCM for consistently nurturing a stream of outstanding talent that has played a pivotal role in the company's development. During the symposium, Vice President Liu Zhongqiu conveyed his heartfelt thanks to Wanglaoji for providing a vibrant platform for the growth and development of graduates. On the occasion of the university's centenary celebration, he extended a warm invitation to the enterprise to engage more closely with the academic community and welcomed alumni to revisit their alma mater. He emphasized the importance of joint efforts in promoting the rich culture of TCM and fostering a collaborative alliance that integrates industry, academia, and research. In turn, Alumni and Chief Engineer Huang Xiaodan expressed profound gratitude to the university for nurturing talented individuals who have become the backbone of Wanglaoji. She acknowledged the invaluable technical guidance and support provided by the university in various scientific research endeavors, and expressed her earnest hope for future opportunities to embark on diverse collaborations.

Subsequently, a "Ceremony for the Inauguration of GZUCM's Teaching Base" was held, signifying the initiation of a fresh chapter in talent nurturing and the integration of industry and education.

Both entities vowed to actively broaden their collaboration horizons, cultivate novel productive forces, and unite in contributing their intellectual prowess and energies towards advancing the high-quality development of the TCM industry.

Among the attendees were key personnel from the President's Office, Human Resources Department, Development Planning Department, Teaching Affairs Department, Graduate School, and other pertinent functional departments. Furthermore, the event was graced by the presence of the Party and Administrative leaders of the School of Chinese Materia Medica, alongside representatives of the faculty.
