March 12th is the 46th National Arbor Day. Guangzhou University of Chinese Medicine held an Arbor Day event named "Jointly Participating in Greening and Beautifying Guangdong, Boldly Taking Responsibility for the Double Hundred Action" in response to the national initiative for voluntary tree planting and country greening, with a view to deeply implementing the "Double Hundred Action", promoting the ecological construction of "Greening and Beautifying Guangdong," and practicing the development concept of "lucid waters and lush mountains are invaluable assets" with practical actions.
The university leaders, including Chen Wenfeng, Secretary of the CPC GZUCM Committee; Wan Wei, Deputy Secretary of the CPC GZUCM Committee and the University President; Qiu Yahong, Deputy Secretary of the CPC GZUCM Committee; Pan Huafeng and Lin Bin, Vice Presidents; and Lin Yijiao Secretary of the Discipline Inspection Commission; as well as Ye Rongsheng, Deputy County Mayor of Fogang County Government in a partnership with the university; Feng Ruming, Deputy Director of Fogang County Education Bureau; Huang Guofu, Leader of the "Double Hundred Action" service team of GZUCM stationed in Fogang County, together with heads of relevant functional departments and schools, teacher representatives, students from various schools, international students, students from Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan, and students from minority preparatory classes, jointly planted 20 agarwood trees on Yaowang Mountain at the university's Guangzhou Higher Education Mega Center campus. Guo Hong, the university’s vice President, presided over the event and delivered a speech.
Fogang County, in partnership with the university through the "Double Hundred Action," brought 20 carefully selected agarwood trees to show appreciation for the support from GZUCM. Over the past few years, the university has focused on fostering mutually beneficial cooperation with the local district, demonstrating its commitment to education by promoting coordinated urban-rural development and driving high-quality development as a top priority. It has promoted the "Double Hundred Action" in tandem with the construction of "double first-class" university and high-level university. Under the leadership of the university's CPC Committee and with the full cooperation of the Fogang County CPC Committee and government, various tasks have been consistently and thoroughly advanced, leading to initial attainments. The majority of teachers and students have actively responded to the "Double Hundred Action," taking part in grassroots practices, conducting in-depth scientific research, promoting the transformation of scientific research, and injecting new momentum into the comprehensive promotion of rural revitalization and high-quality economic development in Fogang County. Through practice, they have honed their skills and enhanced their abilities.
Following the Arbor Day event, Professor Peng Guangtian from the School of Pharmaceutical Sciences delivered a lecture to students on agarwood science knowledge, with an integration of ideological and political education.
On the same day, 36 volunteer teachers and students from the School of Medical Information Engineering and the School of Physical Education and Public Health went to Lishui Village, Shijiao Town, Fogang County, to participate in a tree-planting event. Together with the local Communist Youth League cadres, they planted 49 willow saplings, jointly contributing to the "Greening and Beautifying Guangdong" project with Fogang County.
