The laboratory adheres to the important principles of upholding the originality, innovation, and inheritance of traditional Chinese medicine, and insists on cooperative construction and open sharing. It focuses on key research tasks around four major strategic needs: original theories of traditional Chinese medicine, prevention and treatment of major diseases, development of new TCM drugs, and international technological competition. It covers five major research directions, including the development of products for human immune defense and biological security in TCM; the interpretation of TCM principles on syndrome differentiation and disease identification combined with diagnosis and treatment; the development of TCM diagnosis and treatment schemes for common major chronic diseases; the development of modern diagnosis and treatment equipment, and the creation of new types of TCM drugs. It is hoped that breakthroughs can be made in the standardization and modernization of clinical diagnosis and treatment in traditional Chinese medicine, the enhancement of clinical value and service of traditional Chinese medicine, and the advancement of the high-end traditional Chinese medicine industry, thus contributing to the high-quality development of traditional Chinese medicine industry in Guangdong and the country, and at the same time promoting Macao's economic diversification.
