On January 9th, a delegation led by Wang Zhibin, Dean of Beijing Tongrentang Research Institute, visited the university for research. Wang Wei, Deputy Secretary of the CPC GZUCM Committee and President of the university, and Wang Hongbin, vice President of the university, attended the symposium.

Wang Wei welcomed the delegation from Beijing Tongrentang Research Institute and briefly introduced the university’s history and significant progresses in scientific and technological innovation. He emphasized that Guangzhou University of Chinese Medicine has entered a crucial period of national, provincial and ministerial platform construction, and warmly welcomes Tongrentang to deeply participate in industry-university-research cooperation, to accelerate the modernization, industrialization and internationalization of traditional Chinese medicine, and to jointly help the inheritance, innovation and development of traditional Chinese medicine.
Wang Zhibin congratulated Guangzhou University of Chinese Medicine on its achievements in scientific research, talent training and platform construction. In recent years Tongrentang has increased its investment in scientific research. He expressed a strong desire to establish a comprehensive cooperative relationship with Guangzhou University of Chinese Medicine, aiming to drive product upgrades through scientific and technological innovation.
At the symposium, both parties exchanged ideas on the registration application of traditional Chinese medicine varieties in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, the application of university-enterprise cooperation for major national projects, the development of traditional Chinese medicine compound preparations of ancient classic prescriptions, the transformation of new drugs into preparations by medical institutions, and the clinical research of characteristic varieties. Both stated that under the guidance of market demand, they would integrate resources, sign a framework agreement on university-enterprise cooperation as soon as possible, and implement specific projects, so as to achieve mutually beneficial cooperation.
