On the morning of January 10, the university held a briefing on the work of the university in 2023, where Chen Wenfeng, Secretary of the CPC GZUCM Committee informed the retired faculty and staff of the relevant situation of the university’s work in 2023. Pan Huafeng, a member of the Standing Committee of the CPC Committee and vice President of the university, presided over the meeting. More than 100 veteran comrades, including retired university leaders Wang Mianning, Qiu Heming, Lin Peizheng, Sun Xiaosheng, retired veteran cadre Cao Haiyu, and retired leader of the theoretical study center group Zhang Xinzhong attended the meeting.
Chen Wenfeng, on behalf of the CPC Committee of the university, first extended New Year’s greetings and best wishes to all the retired faculty and staff, and expressed his heartfelt thanks to the retired leaders and colleagues who have contributed to the university’s “double first-class” and high-level university construction.
Chen Wenfeng highlighted that in 2023, guided by Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, the CPC Committee of the university fully implemented the spirit of the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, and of General Secretary Xi Jinping’s series of important speeches and important instructions to Guangdong, resolutely implemented the “1310” specific deployment of the Provincial CPC Committee, and carried out high-standard and high-quality education campaign on learning and implementing Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era. In the second half of the year, the CPC Committee of the university deepened and expanded the achievements of the education campaign, carried out in-depth discussions on “changing work style, emphasizing hard work, opening a new situation, and striving for excellence” in the whole university, and insisted on leading “double first-class” and high-level university construction.
In 2023, the university carried out high-quality education campaign and transformed the learning achievements into the comprehensive and high-quality development of the university, changed the style of work and focused on practical work, accelerated the pace of reform and development, enhanced the efficiency level of serving the “main battlefield” of secondary colleges and affiliated hospitals, strengthened the service awareness of university leaders and responsible comrades of functional departments to be “shopkeepers”, “waiters” and “logistics ministers”, improved the talent training system, discipline construction, connotation construction of affiliated hospitals, international exchanges and cooperation, and implemented the “Double Hundred Project” and“Hundred-Thousand-Ten Thousand Project”, which have made great progress in all aspects.
Chen Wenfeng emphasized that 2024 would mark the 75th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China and the centenary milestone of Guangzhou University of Chinese Medicine. The university’s achievements today are inseparable from the dedication and efforts of our predecessors, as well as everyone’s care and support. The university will continue to respect and care for the retired staff, and hope that they will continue to make development strategies for the university, solve development problems, and witness a better future for the university!
