On January 12, the signing ceremony for the cooperation and construction of Shenshan Hospital of Chinese Medicine between Guangzhou University of Chinese Medicine (GZUCM), the First Affiliated Hospital of GZUCM, and Shanwei Municipal People’s Government was held in Shanwei City. Chen Wenfeng, Secretary of the CPC GZUCM Committee, and Lu Feng, the Party Secretary and Director of the Standing Committee of the People’s Congress of Shanwei City, attended the ceremony and delivered speeches. Chen Wenfeng stated that the joint construction of Shenshan Hospital of Chinese Medicine by the three parties is a significant strategic measure to earnestly implement the “1310” specific deployment of the provincial CPC Committee and the spirit of the document on building a strong province of Chinese medicine. It accelerates the advancement of the“Hundred-Thousand-Ten Thousand Project”, comprehensively deepens the reform of the medical and health system, promotes the high-quality development of Chinese medicine services, and helps Shanwei City achieve a leap-forward development in medical and health care, which is of milestone significance. He believes that by deeply implementing the “government-university-hospital” medical cooperation model and giving full play to their respective advantages, the university will establish a medical, educational, and research base in Shanwei City, expand the platform for career development, and enhance its influence and radiation, which will undoubtedly accelerate the improvement of the medical level of Shanwei Hospital of Chinese Medicine, promote the development of health care in Shanwei City, and provide more high-quality medical resources for the people in the old district. Regarding the cooperation and construction of Shenshan Hospital of Chinese Medicine, he expressed three hopes: First, accelerate the construction of the hospital, carefully plan, make preparations, and ensure the hospital opens on schedule. Second, implement the contents of the agreement, and give full play to the resource advantages of the university and its First Affiliated Hospital in terms of talents, management, and technology, as well as the excellent TCM culture and regional advantages of Shanwei City, striving to improve the TCM diagnosis and treatment level and therapeutic effects in Shanwei City, creating a mutually beneficial and win-win situation for the development of both the university and the hospital. Third, play a driving role. The university should take the lead in “Double First-Class” and the construction of high-level universities, promote the construction and development of the jointly-built hospital, and help Shanwei City achieve high-quality development in talent cultivation, scientific research, economic and social development services, inheritance and promotion of TCM culture, and international cooperation and exchange.

The signing of the cooperation agreement marks a new stage in the high-quality construction of Shenshan Hospital of Chinese Medicine. The Shanwei Municipal CPC Committee and Municipal Government will earnestly fulfill their territorial responsibilities, do their best to promote the construction of Shenshan Hospital of Chinese Medicine, ensure the project is completed and put into operation as soon as possible, and better meet the diverse medical needs of the masses. The signing ceremony was witnessed by Chen Wenfeng, Secretary of the CPC GZUCM Committee, Lu Feng, the Party Secretary and Director of the Standing Committee of the People’s Congress of Shanwei City, Zheng Haitao, the Mayor of Shanwei City, Zhai Weifeng, a member of the Standing Committee of the Shanwei Municipal CPC Committee and Minister of the Organization Department, Wang Hongbin, Vice President of GZUCM, Ke Zhong, Deputy Director of the Guangdong Provincial Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine, and Li Jieyun, Deputy Director of the Health Commission of Shenzhen Municipal Government. Lin Bin, a member of the Standing Committee of the CPC Committee and Vice President of GZUCM, Li Jun, President of the First Affiliated Hospital of GZUCM, and Huang Zhijian, a member of the Standing Committee of the Shanwei Municipal CPC Committee and Executive Deputy Mayor, signed the cooperation agreement to jointly build Shenshan Hospital of Chinese Medicine on behalf of the three parties.
After the signing ceremony, Chen Wenfeng and his delegation visited Yihui Fund Hospital in Shanwei, and went to the construction site of Shenshan Hospital of Chinese Medicine to understand the progress.
It is reported that the first phase of Shenshan Hospital of Chinese Medicine has 500 beds, with an investment of approximately 1.2 billion yuan, funded by Shenzhen’s assistance with 800 million yuan, which is expected to be put into use in 2025. The First Affiliated Hospital of GZUCM will operate the “one hospital and two divisions” of Shenshan Hospital of Chinese Medicine and Yihui Fund Hospital in Shanwei “fully entrusted”. The cooperative hospital will be built into a municipal high-level TCM hospital with tumors, cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases, orthopedic injuries, and rheumatism as the core diseases, thereby promoting the construction of a regional medical center.
